What was her reason for studying law? "I wish I had a more 'noble' reason, but my dad said to me: 'I think you would like law.' I decided to believe him. Luckily he was right!"
Obert Bore graduated cum laude.
He says, "My interest in law was triggered by the inspiration and the motivation I always received from my late grandfather who was a well-respected and charismatic leader in my community. Since he had also done law (at Rhodes University), he made me realise that in order to overcome the 21st century dilemmas, one needs to understand the legal framework that governs our conduct. I also realised that some of the most influential leaders in the world are law graduates, for instance the late president Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama.

She says studied law, "My Cambridge maths teacher, and good friend Cheryl Sims, recommended that I do so given my affinity for English and my analytical skills. I also received professional career counselling and the psychologist recommended environmental law as a career, based on my academic profile and interests."
Swelihle Halalisani Mfeka graduated cum laude.
Mfeka studied law because of, "Firstly, love of education in general was prompted by my family with every family member holding a second qualification or studying towards one. I was motivated to study law specifically because it is a very noble profession. It has limitless opportunities in that you can work in numerous institutions beside traditional court rooms. My high school friends were very influential as they always characterised my personality as one of a lawyer. People who practise law have a certain standing in society. It was the desire to hold such standing that enticed me further to study law."
